La tumeur de l'Obscur
François Carrière de Glencoe · 2024
This painting, imbued with human history and metaphysics, transcends the simple image of a "devil in flames."
It evokes Bertrand, a friend who loved the crackling fire in his fireplace, though scarred by two fires, one of which resulted in a human tragedy. This same fire, a poignant metaphor, is also embodied in the brain tumor he is fighting with radiation, an inner fire that consumes him until his passing.
The Obscure refers to Heraclitus, the Greek philosopher of perpetual change, for whom fire is the first and ultimate principle, ever-present, a symbol of the ceaseless movement of being in this world.
A tribute to life and transformation, where everything is created and destroyed in the flame of becoming.
